This is one of the oldest banks in India and the oldest joint stock bank in the country. The history of the bank spreads over three centuries. The bank was established in 1865 by a group of your Europeans in Allahabad. The bank was started in Allahabad, but later shifted the headquarters in Calcutta. The bank released IPO in October 2,002, with the face value of each share at Rs.10. The bank also has an overseas bronze located in Hong Kong and recently in March 2007 the cross business off the bank crossed the one million rupees mark.
